People Don’t Like What I Like

It’s really quite simple. For example;

• Zach Galifianakis- My favorite comedian, I believe he is an unseen talent. Great one liners, and subtle actions that make him fantastic. In Zach’s act he tries a couple of characters he says he is working on. It’s never really what he says, it always about how he acts it out.

• Dave Attell- Another great Comedian. Attell hosted a show called Insomniac with Dave Attell, where he travelled around the country mainly, got drunk and talked to people. I don’t know why more people did not watch it. His comments and quick one liners are hilarious. He is called a comedian’s comedian.

• David Cross- was Dr. Tobias Funke on Arrested Development. Normally I hate political humor, but for some reason I laugh so hard at his material.

• Brad Neely- comedian/ contributor on Superdeluxe. Neely dubbed his own narration which he called Wizard People, Dear Reader, over Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It’s somewhere on YouTube, and if you have a couple hours to kill I highly recommend it.

• Animal Collective- Song Suggestion- Fireworks is an indie rock band if you had to characterize them. Incredible music probably not for you. Panda bear is a solo project from the band, and yeah, you probably won’t like him either.

• Sean Price- New York rapper, part of Heltah Skeltah and Boot Camp Clik. He isn’t famous because his lyrics and beats are phenomenal, but he doesn’t sound terrible like Lil’ Wayne, T-Pain and a lot of other popular rappers. Therefore no one knows of him. Honestly you know Lil’ Wayne isn’t any good, he makes no sense. Ever.

• www.ohword.com – Is a rap blog website. Home of the internet celebrities who are the creators of the ghetto Big Mac, and other great videos like Bodega. Look those videos up. I guarantee you will learn some great things. I did not link them because of the language in the video. So your call, hopefully you can get passed some naughty words because the messages in some of the videos are pretty compelling.

• www.good.is -website I found using StumbleUpon (Google it, then add it, you will love it.) Alternative magazine reports on environmentalism and some politics.

• Ipath Cats- the most comfortable shoes ever. I will not take any emails on this matter. It’s a fact.

• Home Movies/ H. Jon Benjamin- Adult Swim show with H. Jon Benjamin as Coach McGuirk. Hilarious, creative, and of course, unwatched because it isn’t stupid like most sitcoms. The beauty of the show is that the dialogue between the characters is all improvisational and it is always hilarious. A favorite quote from Coach McGuirk-”Hi. I’m John McGuirk, and I am a professional soccer coach at the elementary school level. The kind of woman I’m interested in is the type that is still watching this tape. I also have a very nice car, although technically I don’t have legal access to it at this time.”

• Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil, Venture Brothers, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman, ATHF, and Trailer Park Boys. Aside from Trailer Park Boys - They are all Adult Swim TV Shows. Trailer Park Boys is a Canadian show that the title pretty much describes it for you. The three main characters are hilarious each in their own ways. Ricky mispronounces words, and then justifies them, Bubbles loves his cats, and is just an odd guy, while Julian always has a hard liquor drink in his hand no matter what he is doing. Lucy the Daughter of the Devil, Venture Brothers, Sealab 2021, Harvey Birdman, and ATHF are all animated TV shows. They all are hilarious in their own special way. Check out www.adultswim.com.

• Arrested Development- One of the best TV Shows in history. The jokes were so well written that only few people got them. The episodes are chock full of jokes. I bought the seasons and still watch them and always see new jokes. Go watch this show somewhere online. It’s also where Michael Cera got his start.

• www.clarkandmichael.com – online shorts starring Michael Cera and Clark Duke. The shorts are about ten to eleven minutes, and follow the two trying to pitch their idea for a show to different networks. You will be amazed at how these two young actors are such great writers.

• Current TV- Viewer created TV channel. The channel has “pods” that all viewers created. They range from rants, to important unseen issues in the world. If you have the channel, try watching a few “pods.” Honestly, they are not all winners but try a couple. There will be one that gets you thinking.

• Condemned video game- Is a game about finding a serial killer in a city. Scares me to play because it is so intense and realistic.

• This American Life – The fact is barely anyone my age listens to NPR. Ira Glass’ weekly program is extraordinary. His program covers an extraordinary range of topics from people’s experience with death to current issues like the War in Iraq as well as funny ones about people never learning the truth in childhood myths. The childhood myth one was one of my favorites because it exposed something everyone does. One woman did not know if unicorns were endangered or extinct. No one corrected her on that childhood myth until she asked her friends one day at dinner. Of they all laughed at her until they realized she really did not know the truth. There also was a TV series Ira Glass produced based on the same topic as the radio show. Overall Ira Glass’ work is incredible and captivating.
