Is Cancun Really The Best Spring Break Spot?

For many years Cancun, Mexico has been the ultimate spring break vacation, it is known to be Mexico’s Caribbean island paradise. Cancun has been on the map for many years due to the publicity of MTV’s spring break, its headquarters is located at the Oasis Hotel. The Oasis Hotel is the number one ranked Spring Break hotel! Not only is Cancun known for MTV’s Spring Break but also the unique tropical setting and the ancient Mayan culture. Cancun has gorgeous white sand beaches with warm and calm Caribbean waves that are in a soothing tropical climate! These sunny, warm, easy-going, and cool breeze nights have issues that are not always talked about. In 2009 this “hot” spot has turned into a major threat. This white sand paradise has turned into a scene of violence that no one truly understands. The famous strip of Cancun where you can find many partying college students who have left their troubles behind to bathe in the sun, do not know that there is a growing drug war. This disturbing event has been going on due to the extensive police corruption, trade routes with Haiti, and the sudden conflict between two of the country’s popular drug gangs.
Nine people have been found dead! These deaths have exposed a shocking smuggling ring that involved fraud at all levels of government. This situation has left the federal investigator’s faces with a blank expression. These federal investigators had thought they broke up the cocaine trade in Cancun three years ago but they are sadly mistaken. This popular vacation spot doesn’t seem so sunny when the scary facts of the drug war soars the streets. Recently the unclear series of events involving the two dangerous gangs has led to the murder of three federal agents, two police spies, the kidnapping and wounding of two federal investigators and the finding of four unidentified bodies in the trunk of a
burned car!!! The drug war is getting out of hand. Cancun does not seem so safe anymore.
Cancun has turned into a place where tourists should watch their backs and keep their friends and family close by their side. One of the biggest problems and probably key component is that people should not trust many of the big authorities. The reason why they should not trust many people is because more than a dozen police agents have been arrested, including the wounded pair, showing that police business and local power figures are linked to the drug war. In the big picture Cancun seems to be the place to be but in all, it can be quite dangerous. The best place to vacation once was the sizzling, spicy, crazy, and fun Cancun, but when finding of a place to go, you might want to rethink the decision!

okay, i just got back from Cancun last week and everything was totally okay. if you did not know anything about the drug war, you would’ve never guessed it was going on.
yes, the oasis hotel is definitely the hot spot for spring breakers. during the day they have music playing and games too. but if you are going just to chill with your family, i would stay at the grand oasis. that is more laidback and chill unlike the oasis cancun.
as long as you don’t use or sell drugs, don’t break the rules at the hotel, and DO NOT USE THE TAXI’S you are in the clear. i would definitely go back to Cancun anyday.
